Lycia was a significant historical region located in Anatolia, spanning the area of modern-day Turkey. It existed as a distinct geopolitical entity from the 15th or 14th century BC until its decline in 546 BC.
The region was situated along the Mediterranean coast, encompassing parts of the current provinces of Antalya and Muğla, as well as inland areas of Burdur. Lycia is well-documented in historical records, appearing in the archives of the Hittite Empire and ancient Egypt during the Late Bronze Age.
